Job part 2-Should We Accept Good from God and not Adversity?
This week,
Job will lose more than just his family and material wealth, which would be
enough to destroy anyone’s faith! He will have to give up his physical
health. Yet this too God allows to
reveal Job’s faithfulness. When I think
of my life, I realize I have little to complain about compared to what he
suffered. I like Job long to respond to
tragedy with faith. And like Peter to
say:
But rejoice insofar as you share
Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is
revealed. 1 Peter 4:13

Like last
week, note what you learn about God from this chapter. When you observe, notice His power.
·
List what
you learn about Job. Look carefully for
his response to circumstances and how he responds to further suffering and his
wife’s comments.
·
Reread the
chapter and write what you think Satan’s reasoning is. What does he believe about people? Does he still employ that tactic today to
make us lose faith? Read these New
Testament scriptures and make note on what Satan’s tactics and power is in our
lives today:

Prompt: In this chapter Job’s three friends came to be with him in his
grief. Have you been a friend who had to
comfort others in grief? Have you lost a
family member? What can you learn from
this chapter in how to respond to these circumstances in life? Do you think how his friends responded was
what you would want if you were in Job’s position?
